Job description

Business Development Manager, Space and Defence

NordSpace (https://nordspace.com ) is a Canadian company with the bold mission to advance life on Earth from space, and build an end-to-end space missions company - vying to be the first in Canadian history to open the floodgates to space, and develop Canada into a true sovereign spacefaring nation.

Our work includes an orbital launch vehicle, private spaceport, space systems/satellites development services, hypersonic aircraft, rocket engines, design/testing/manufacturing services, mission critical software, and dual-use technologies for terrestrial and defence applications. The Business Development Manager at NordSpace will play a critical role on the team to commercialize these unique products both domestically and internationally. This role will require "boots on the ground", working in direct contact with our research and development teams, and finding unique opportunities to expand the commercial potential of NordSpace's R&D efforts. Traveling to meet clients, prospects, and represent NordSpace at events will be necessary.

This role requires someone with vision, leadership, and a relentless work ethic that goes far beyond the norm. NordSpace is committed to extremely rapid innovation and development of only the most ambitious aerospace projects with only the most ambitious team Canada has to offer. We are driven to do everything it takes to bring space closer to Earth and inspire generations of space explorers and make Canadian history.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the space and defence sectors.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key customers, industry partners, and government agencies to drive sales growth.
  • Strategically navigate target accounts and partner organizations to advance opportunities through the sales pipeline.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking engagements to enhance visibility and market presence.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for proof-of-concept trials and field deployments, ensuring seamless execution and support.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to tailor solutions to customer needs and market demands.
  • Stay informed on Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) policies to align business strategies with compliance and funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal teams to align sales strategies with company objectives and customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in business development or sales, preferably in aerospace or defence.
  • Strong technical acumen or relevant educational background in space and defence industries.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strategic, long-term partnerships.
  • Experience navigating government programs, including Canada’s ITB policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as required.
