Scrawlr is a company building a software platform and series of products dedicated to enabling alternative forms of communication layered on existing internet content, along with delivering superior monetization flexibility and content ownership for content generators.

Lodgr, a division of Scrawlr, will provide property management services to property owners and enable short-term renters to source vacation properties near major metropolises.

Summary

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to work on Lodgr. Your focus will include client relationship management, market analysis, partner relations, service offering development, and collaborating with the tech team to support growth.

Key Objectives
  1. Develop and refine the commercial offering plan.
  2. Establish the initial market (Ontario, then Canada) into a fully viable commercial operation.
  3. Maintain existing property owner relationships in Canada.
  4. Identify and penetrate additional markets within Canada and internationally, focusing on developed countries.
  5. Expand services within the property management package.
  6. Manage relationships with partners (e.g., Jauntr, Verto) and identify new partnerships.
  7. Communicate commercial needs to the tech team effectively.
Responsibilities

Your role includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Negotiating with clients and partners to improve profitability.
  2. Coordinating with executive management and providing progress updates.
  3. Conducting market research and identifying new business opportunities.
  4. Managing budgets, expenses, and revenues related to commercial activities.
  5. Liaising between various internal teams, including development.
  6. Managing commercial risks and devising mitigation strategies.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant business development experience.
  • Experience in marketing and project management.
  • Strong strategic, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in a startup environment.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Relationship management skills.
Salary and Benefits

$100,000 - $180,000 base salary, with performance bonuses.

Extended health benefits included.

Position Details

Type: Permanent, Full-Time, In Person

Hours: 40/week, with occasional overtime

Start Date: Immediate
