Job description

We're rebuilding vertical software with AI — from the inside.

Embrace owns the software running inside 16% of the Fortune 500, 45+ state agencies, and 450+ banks and credit unions. We acquire entrenched vertical software businesses and rebuild them around AI — products, operations, go-to-market, all of it. Our Venture Lab launches new AI-native products into those same markets, using the distribution and customer relationships our portfolio already owns.

You'll ship AI into production against real workflows, real customers, and a P&L you can see move within a quarter.

We hire people who want scope, speed, and ownership, and who are tired of working on AI that never reaches a customer. If you want to spend the next five years shipping into software that already runs the economy, talk to us.

Job Description

This is a remote position.

Embrace is growing the Business Development team within our M&A group. The role is to search for, find, and get in contact with owners or CEO’s of world-class software organizations that lead to the sourcing of current acquisition opportunities for Embrace. This individual will leverage their existing relationships and build new ones with decision makers (i.e. owners, CEO’s and founders) of software companies, M&A advisors, and private equity/venture capital professionals in the United States. Success is defined by breaking through barriers others have not been able to, and sourcing Embrace’s newest platform acquisitions.

Initiating relationships, maintaining relationships, delivering the value proposition of Embrace and leveraging their biz dev experience to provide best practices, coach and lead others, identifying the appropriate KPIs and keeping themselves and others accountable immediately upon starting.

This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Business Development.

Outcomes:
  • Be able to identify or perform market analysis to identify the next market or industry to break into to source a new platform acquisition for Embrace.
  • Be the champion of our Salesforce CRM managing, tracking, and monitoring target accounts to ensure themselves, other BD resources and M&A team members are working on all accounts necessary.
  • Must be knowledgeable of traditional and new tools and applications that yield world-class results at the best value.
  • Must have demonstrated world-class business development best practices, work flows, strategies, and approaches
  • Must be able to set quarterly, monthly and weekly targets for themselves and other BD resources at Embrace.
  • Meet and exceed monthly BD targets, such as discovery and follow up calls and other measurable BD sourcing KPIs.
  • Must have demonstrated their ability to work both autonomously and with M&A leadership to qualify acquisition opportunities with efficiency.
  • Effectively qualify opportunities at the top-end of the acquisition funnel to maintain focus for the M&A team.
  • Must have the gift of the gab.
Requirements
  • The professional seeking out this role is passionate about the business development profession and its growth potential within Embrace.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program (Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics or related) at a Canadian or U.S. university, eligible for a co-op or internship term, with a strong interest in software M&A.
  • Basic understanding of Financial terms and metrics. (Revenue, Churn/Attrition/GDR, COGS, opex, ARR etc).
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence and executive presence to speak with CEOs, M&A advisors, corporate development, private equity and venture capital professionals.
  • Organized, detail oriented, and able to work variable hours.
  • Extraordinary work ethic, proactive with a sense of urgency.
  • Prior sales experience of any kind is strongly preferred — door-to-door, fundraising, call center work, telecom or gym membership sales, retail commission, car sales, real estate assistant work, or having run something of your own as a student. Formal M&A or finance experience is not required. What matters is that you've had to ask for something, get told no, and go again.
