Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Executive, Trade & Hospitality based in Canada.

This role is focused on building a new business function serving high-value trade and hospitality customers. You will own the full net-new sales cycle, from identifying prospects and building relationships to pitching and closing new accounts. Your customers will include interior designers, design firms, hotels, and hospitality groups with opportunities for repeat and project-based revenue. Working within a lean and fast-moving team, you will have significant autonomy and end-to-end ownership of your pipeline. You will also use AI-powered tools to modernize prospecting, outreach, follow-up, and sales workflows. The role offers broad cross-functional exposure across merchandising, operations, vendors, and brand strategy.

  • Identify, prospect, engage, and close new B2B accounts across the trade and hospitality sectors, including interior designers, design firms, hotels, and hospitality groups.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of high-value accounts with a focus on repeat purchasing, long-term relationships, and recurring project-based revenue.
  • Conduct both inbound and outbound calls and maintain direct, high-touch relationships with prospective customers throughout the sales process.
  • Use AI tools to enhance prospecting, list building, messaging, follow-up, and outreach efficiency.
  • Develop and oversee AI-driven sales workflows, including creating effective prompts, validating outputs, and continuously refining processes based on results.
  • Monitor funnel metrics, pipeline health, CRM discipline, reporting consistency, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Establish scalable processes for lead routing, opportunity management, follow-up, and sales‑cycle optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve conversion rates, increase deal velocity, and create more efficient business development workflows.
  • Coordinate with the owner of inbound and existing accounts to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent account strategies after new relationships are established.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, operations, and vendor teams on inventory planning and special orders supporting trade and design customers.
Requirements
  • 5–8 years of B2B sales or business development experience, ideally in trade, design, hospitality, or another relationship-driven and high-touch sales environment.
  • Demonstrated success sourcing and closing net-new business rather than primarily managing an established book of accounts.
  • Strong prospecting, sales, negotiation, pipeline management, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication and phone skills, with confidence serving as the primary point of contact for prospective customers.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support prospecting, outreach, messaging, and sales workflows.
  • Ability to create, test, and refine AI-supported processes while validating outputs and applying sound business judgment.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to maintain accurate CRM records, monitor funnel performance, and manage forecasts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment and self-manage priorities, pipeline activity, and deadlines without close day-to-day supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment where ownership, initiative, adaptability, and measurable results are highly valued.
Benefits
  • Remote work opportunity available across the United States and Canada.
  • Paid time off policies.
  • For U.S.-based employees: 401(k) matching, medical, dental, and vision coverage, supplemental benefit options, and employee discounts.
  • For Canada-based employees: RRSP matching, medical, dental, and vision coverage, supplemental benefit options, and employee discounts.
  • Cross-functional exposure to merchandising, operations, vendor management, and brand strategy.
  • Opportunity to build and shape a new business development function with significant end-to-end ownership.
  • Hands‑on experience integrating AI tools throughout modern sales and prospecting workflows.
  • Opportunity to directly influence account strategy, pipeline development, and the evolution of the sales function.
  • Employment is contingent on a background check, including verification of prior employment dates.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to participate in a mandatory in-person interview before an offer.
