Job Description

The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, developing, and supporting all incoming client data files for processing in PartnerRe systems. Data may come in various formats but typically includes transaction, in-force, valuation, and underwriting files, with process streams varying by function.

1. Ensure monthly data loads meet specified metrics. Responsibilities include data/plan mapping (including manual data entry and verification), investigating and resolving client issues, and verifying accounting loads.
2. Keep the Manager, Assumed Admin - NAL informed of ongoing activities and any unusual circumstances to ensure quality and timely delivery.
3. Develop a strong understanding of reinsurance concepts, principles, and treaty language.
4. Identify process improvement opportunities, initiate internal reports, and create efficiencies to enhance data quality.
5. Assist other teams within North American Life Operations and Administration as needed.
6. Support internal stakeholders with data requests, inquiries, and discrepancy analysis with documentation.
7. Design and analyze management reports as defined by management.
8. Write VBA code, macros, and SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and distribute data.
9. Communicate with clients to facilitate data transmission and address questions or clarifications.
10. Verify that premiums, allowances, and taxes for assumed policies are correctly calculated and billed.
11. Update accounting systems with monthly client cash flows versus accounts receivable, correcting discrepancies.
12. Create and maintain ETL scripts for data acquisition, transformation, and loading into PartnerRe systems.
13. Adhere to IT controls and security policies.
14. Maintain a rigorous control environment, ensuring compliance and identifying gaps for remediation.
15. Follow IT change management processes, thoroughly testing scripts and applications before deployment.
16. Liaise with Underwriting for data validation, reporting, and audit discussions, including for Retro business.
17. Participate in enhancement projects, including creation, testing, deployment, and bug management. Document outcomes and coordinate with departments to meet specifications.
18. Participate in client visits or audits as required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in business or STEM disciplines
• Basic understanding of audit and quality assurance principles
• Interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Proficiency in SQL and MS Office
• Some experience with VBA
• Experience with Alteryx is a plus
• Basic French language skills are a plus
