Job summary

Surrey Police Service in Surrey, BC, is seeking a Business Analyst 3 to join the Information Technology Section. The incumbent will scope and define business requirements and act as the liaison between business areas and IT, supporting senior-level analysis and mentoring junior team members.

The role is on-site, with a 7-hour/day, 35-hour/week schedule, and a strong emphasis on applying best practices, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Degree in a related field from a recognized institution plus four years related experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
• All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS.

Responsibilities

• Completes complex and integrated process modelling, business requirements elicitation, business casing and feasibility analysis.
• Works closely with representatives from all levels of the organization to develop and plan business strategies.
• Leads and creates accurate and well-crafted requirements and workflow documentation, including business and functional decisions, current and future state processes, user cases, user stories and business process re-engineering based on best practices.
• Provides business impact assessments and prepares documented deliverables.
• Provides detailed analyses of end-to-end business processes (current and future state), process definition, business process and business workflow mapping.
• Defines constraints, issues, risks, dependencies, and what-if scenarios.
• Provides cost-benefit analyses for proposed changes to assist management.
• Leads and facilitates business interviews and documents detailed summaries of meeting outcomes including action items, and issues.
• Elicits functional and non-functional business requirements.

POSITION OVERVIEW

SurreyPolice Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst 3 tojoin our Information Technology Section, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Theincumbent will formulate and define business scope and objectives throughresearch, fact finding and a thorough understanding of applicable business andindustry requirements. The successful candidate will act as a liaison betweenbusiness areas and information technology (IT). They will work at the highestlevel of all phases of analysis while considering the strategic businessimplications. The incumbent will also provide support and feedback to juniorteam members.

Schedule / Hours of Work

This is an on-site position and the anticipated schedule for this position is 7 hrs/day and 35 hrs/week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
