Job description

As a Business Analyst, you will work at the intersection of Finance, IT, and Operations to support business decision-making and process improvement. You will take a data-driven approach to identifying best practices and opportunities for improvement and then facilitate change across GFL's growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Answer business questions using available data sources and tools
2. Observe and document business processes
3. Plan process improvements and translate these into system change requirements
4. Maintain prototype reports during initial business review and support finalization of requirements for permanent reports
5. Support the definition and implementation of data quality controls
6. Support the definition and implementation of business process controls and KPIs
7. Extrapolate from individual projects and interactions to define ongoing business needs for data gathering and process governance

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

• University degree in engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a similar discipline
• Understanding of process mapping
• Experience with SQL
• Understanding of statistics and data aggregation techniques
• Advanced skills with MS Excel
• Analytical mindset with the ability to define solutions to abstract problems, test solutions, and apply critical thinking
• Team player who readily adapts to rapid changes in priorities and assignments
• Strong business acumen and the ability to build trusted relationships with business leaders
• VBA coding skills are a plus
• Experience with Cognos reporting is a plus
• Knowledge of project management techniques, Agile methodology, Lean, or Six Sigma are a plus
