Job summary

BDC Advisory Services seeks a Business Advisor, Cybersecurity to deliver standard and customized advisory projects for a focused practice. You will manage project delivery, provide subject matter expertise, and support sales while promoting the offering to targeted entrepreneurs.

Requires 5+ years in consulting with cyber risk management experience, ISO/NIST framework familiarity, and strong client-service orientation. Bilingual English/French is a plus; hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BAA), IT or related professional designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a consulting firm with experience in implementing risk management frameworks in cybersecurity.
  • Training or significant experience in frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC2, PCI DSS, NIST CSF or ISO 42001.
  • Privacy security training and internal auditor training.
  • In-depth subject matter expertise and ability to coach SMEs.
  • Strong client/service orientation and ability to deliver value.
  • Proven ability to manage standard and custom consulting projects.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; teamwork and relationship-building.
  • English and French bilingualism is an asset; travel within Canada may be required.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Advisor, Cybersecurity in BDC Advisory Services, delivers standard and customized advisory services projects for a specific practice, with a focus on professional, high-quality solutions that help entrepreneurs develop their business. He or she manages project delivery; provides subject matter expertise and, occasionally, sales support; and helps promote the practice's offering.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • Deliver standard and customized advisory services projects.
  • Provide an extensive offering of impactful services to targeted entrepreneurs. The focus will be on delivering professional, high-quality solutions that help entrepreneurs develop their business.
  • Manage project delivery by monitoring project scope, budget, schedule and objectives, and perform quality assurance on projects and deliverables.
  • Serve as a "subject matter expert" and stay current on market trends to support the development and evolution of practice solutions and tools.
  • Contribute to business development.
  • Provide sales support by performing client need diagnostics and providing input for custom proposals.
  • Work closely with Client Partners to help transfer knowledge and expertise, define scope, deliver projects, uncover opportunities, and sell new mandates.
  • Contribute to the practice outreach activities by developing marketing content and helping to promote the offering.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BAA), IT or related professional designation (Master's degree in related field would be an asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years in a consulting firm, with experience in implementing risk management frameworks specifically in cybersecurity.
  • Training or significant experience in implementing frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC2, PCI DSS, NIST CSF or other, ISO 42001 (nice to have)
  • Privacy security training
  • Internal auditor training
  • In-depth subject matter expertise.
  • Ability to develop pragmatic solutions that are relevant in a SME business environment and to provide strategic coaching to the business, as required.
  • Strong client and customer service orientation, with a clear focus on delivering value to the client.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver standard and custom consulting projects.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices in the context of delivering services to clients.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as an ability to participate in outreach, promotion and business development activities.
  • Teamwork, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Bilingualism in English & French (an asset).
  • Travel within a limited geographic area, with occasional travel to other locations across Canada, if required.
