Job summary

Active Start Childcare in Edmonton is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver for our Out of School Care program at Harvest Hills. You will transport groups of school-age children, supervise pickups and field trips, and model professionalism in a caring environment.

Requirements include a Class 1 or 2 driver’s license with an S endorsement and a clean driver’s abstract; Level 1–3 Alberta Child Care Certification is an asset.

Qualifications

• Class 1 or 2 driver's license with an S endorsement and a clean abstract.
• Experience driving a school or daycare bus is an asset.
• Current criminal record check and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Fluent in English and able to work with children.
• Willing to enroll in Alberta Child Care Certification if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Drive groups of children to and from school throughout the day.
• Supervise during pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Engage with school-age children during field trips and at the centre.
• Cultivate positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Adhere to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Active Start policies.

About the Role

We are currently looking for a Bus Driver for our Out of School Care program at our Harvest Hills location in Edmonton. We are looking for someone that has had prior experience driving a school or daycare bus, or a daycare Bus. Candidates must currently have a Class 2 driver's license with an "S" endorsement to drive the Bus. Someone with their Level 1, 2, or 3 Alberta Child Care Certification already obtained would be an asset. (or someone who is willing to obtain it).

A successful candidate would have good driving skills, experience driving children and a clean driver's abstract. This person must be highly motivated, adaptable, and fluent in English, as well as work well with children. A successful candidate would display professionalism and be responsible. This person must have a current criminal record check and first aid certification or be willing to obtain these items upon being hired.

• Level 1, 2 or 3 Child Care Certification (already obtained or willing to enroll)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Professional, adaptable, and fluent in English
• Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations (preferred)
