Job summary

Autobus La Québécoise Inc. seeks a reliable bus driver to transport passengers across routes in Quebec. You will operate buses, report delays or problems, and ensure passenger safety during boarding, alighting and emergencies. You must communicate clearly with dispatchers and the public and keep accurate logbooks.

Frequent travel is required; a valid driver's licence and a clean driving record are mandatory. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 7 months to less than 1 year of driving or related experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Operate buses, school buses or streetcars to transport passengers
• Report delays, mechanical problems and accidents
• Direct passengers during emergency evacuation procedures
• Ensure para-transit passengers board vehicle safely
• Deal with public
• Complete logbooks and reports
• Deal with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts
• Communicate with passengers, dispatchers or other drivers using two-way radio systems
• Ensure children’s safety when boarding and leaving buses and crossing street while bus is stopped
• Maintain control of student activities during travel to prevent distractions or behaviours that could compromise safety
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
