Job summary

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 7 months to less than 1 year of bus driving or related experience.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Operate buses, school buses or streetcars to transport passengers.
• Provide passengers with information on fares, schedules and stops.
• Report delays, mechanical problems and accidents.
• Direct passengers during emergency evacuation procedures.
• Ensure para-transit passengers board vehicle safely.
• Deal with public and resolve conflicts.
• Complete logbooks and reports.
• Communicate with passengers, dispatchers or other drivers using two-way radio.
• Ensure children's safety when boarding and leaving buses and crossing streets.
• Maintain student safety during travel and supervise activities.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee vehicle operations.

• Maintain control of student activities during travel to prevent distractions or behaviours that could compromise safety
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
