Job summary

Contrans Vrac in Hamilton, Ontario seeks a driver for heavy haul and dump trailer work. You will perform pre-trip inspections, load/unload Bulk products, tarp trailers, and maintain cleanliness of equipment.

Role requires AZ license, CVOR and clean Driver's Abstract, and ability to cross Canada/US borders. Expect daily lifting, climbing, and varying shift patterns with coordination through Dispatch and Safety.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit to climb 12' into dump trailers, 2–4 times daily.
• Must be able to lift 20–25 kg in and out of trailers, 2–4 times daily.
• Cross Canada/US border crossing required.
• AZ license held and maintained; CVOR and Driver's Abstract in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspections and assist with loading/unloading Bulk/Dump products.
• Tarp trailers and manage trailer mechanisms with proper safety.
• Clean trailers and equipment; maintain cleanliness of truck interior.
• Complete paperwork including logs and trip envelopes; fuel daily.
• Operate tractor-trailer in a regulated, safe manner and adhere to dispatch instructions.
• Communicate with safety department and other drivers to coordinate deliveries.

Job description

• Pre-trip inspections(Involve walking, bending, lifting and releasing the kingpin from the fifth wheel, approximately 50 pounds pulling force and winding dolly legs up or down, approximately 10 pounds force on the crank)
• Loading and off loading Bulk / Dump products
• Tarping (Opening and closing the trailer tarp on dump trailers, approximately15 pounds force twisting the tarp crank to open and up to 60 pounds pulling to close)
• Cleaning Trailers out (Sweeping the trailer after unloading – climbing,bending and walking.)
• Cleaning Trailers with Frozen product in side
• Removal of cross bows along the top of trailer (Requires hammer to removeall 10 cross bows)
• Climbing in and out of the tractor (approximately but not limiting to 2-4times daily)
• Driving (Driving can vary between 1 to 4 hours sitting and shifting thetransmission)
• Walking on uneven ground at different facilities while loading and off loading
• Dealing with Malfunctioning equipment (Trailer doors could get stuck,Trailer bows not easily coming out, issues with trapping system that may need extra force)
• Knowledge of axle weights
• Safe operation of equipment

Employment Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 20 to 25 kg’s of material in & out of trailers, approximately but not limiting to 2-4 times daily
• Must be able to cross various borders between Canada and the U.S Minimum of 1 yearr heavy haul experience
• Or 3 years over the road experience Licenses / Certificates: AZ license
• Qualifications / Skills: Good CVOR and good Drivers Abstract
