Qualifications

  • Ability to operate ELDs and navigation systems.
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, overnight trips, weekends, and holidays.

Job description

Purpose:

The Long-Haul Truck Driver transports goods safely and efficiently between Canada and the United States, ensuring on-time delivery while complying with all transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards. This role supports the company’s cross-border operations by maintaining professionalism, reliability, and a strong focus on road and freight safety.

Reports to:

This position reports to the Director of Fleet Operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy-duty trucks to transport freight across Canada and the U.S.
  • Plan routes, meet delivery schedules, and manage hours of service in compliance with federal and provincial/state regulations.
  • Ensureaccuratecompletion of billsoflading, logbooks, and other trip documentation.
  • Perform pre-trip,en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Follow Canadian and U.S. transportation laws, including DOT and NSC regulations.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations promptly to dispatch or fleet management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned trucks and trailers.
  • Collaborate with the workshop team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Interact professionally with clients, shippers, and receivers.
  • Handle freight with care to prevent damage during loading, transport, and unloading.
  • Communicate regularly with dispatchregardingtrip progress, delays, and challenges.
  • Support co-drivers in team driving situations when applicable.
