Job summary

Houston Landscapes Ltd. in Vancouver, BC is seeking an Assistant Foreman for a full-time, permanent position at 40 hours per week. Compensation ranges from $32.50 to $34.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly, with overtime in accordance with BC Employment Standards Act.

The role supports foremanship, coordinates daily tasks, and oversees field crews in various landscape projects. Benefits include health coverage after six months and two weeks of paid vacation yearly.

Qualifications

• Must have completed high school.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable operating a Tractor, Bobcat and pickup truck.
• At least two years of experience as a ground maintenance worker.
• Ability to supervise 3–5 people.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Team player with client focus and excellent oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily inspections to ensure presentation and quality meet Houston Landscapes’ standards.
• Support the Foreman in prioritizing tasks and coordinating daily work assignments.
• Help coordinate ground maintenance workers and maintain work logs.
• Assist in estimating labour and material requirements for projects.
• Support training and mentoring of new employees.
• Help oversee planning and construction of landscaped environments, including trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape features.
• Participate in installation of paving stone patios, walkways, driveways, ponds and water features, plus stone patios and pool decks.
• Assist with organizing site excavation and grading.
• Attend meetings and provide updates to the Foreman or management.
• Act as point of support on site in the Foreman’s absence and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

Job description

Houston Landscapes Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Foreman for its location in Vancouver, BC. It’s a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, $32.50h - $34.00/hour (depending on experience) paid bi-weekly. Overtime compensation is based on the current BC Employment Standards Act (1.5 times the regular wage paid if the daily hours exceed 8 hours or the weekly hours exceed 40 hours).

Job duties:

• Assist with daily inspections of landscaped areas to ensure overall presentation and condition meet Houston Landscapes’ standards and quality expectations.
• Support the Foreman in prioritizing horticultural tasks and coordinating daily work assignments.

• Support assigning duties to workers and help train and mentor new employees.
• Assist in overseeing the planning and construction of landscaped environments, including ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape features.
• Participate in and assist with the installation of paving stone patios, walkways, driveways, ponds and water features, as well as flagstone and other natural stone patios, walkways and pool decks.
• Assist with organizing and overseeing site excavation and grading.
• Attend meetings as required and provide updates to the Foreman or management team.
• Act as a point of support on site in the Foreman’s absence and help ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Must have completed high school.
