You will lead design, implementation, and integration of building automation, access control, CCTV, RTLS and related IoT components.

The role emphasizes architecture development, platform evaluation with vendors, and ensuring cybersecurity and scalable solutions for high-performance facilities.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in building systems/IoT and PM with consultants, general contractor, manufacturers, end users.
  • College diploma in Electrical or Engineering Technologist or 2 years recent equivalent experience.
  • Healthcare environments and construction delivery experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering IoT, BAS, AV, Security, RTLS, healthcare systems.
  • Strong written, communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead design, solutioning, implementation, coordination, programming and support of building and IoT systems.
  • Develop IoT and connected system architectures.

Job description

Plan Group is looking for an experienced Building Systems and IoT Specialist with experience in working with Smart Building Technology in both Commercial Real Estate and in Smart Hospitals to join our growing Technology team. Our focus, design and deliver integrated building solutions that connect systems and people, enabling smarter buildings, more efficient operational outcomes.

Leveraging your understanding of Building systems, Technology, and IoT, Plan Group is looking for an experienced Building Systems and IoT Specialist that will be responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, configuration and execution of complex projects across smart building and healthcare environments. This role ensures that all systems ranging from building automation, access control, CCTV, intercom, intrusion, RTLS, IoT devices/platforms, clinical systems, and digital infrastructure work seamlessly together to deliver high-performance connected and intelligent facilities.

As our Building Systems and IoT Specialist, you will:

  • Spearhead the design, solutioning, implementation, coordination, programming, and support of building and IoT systems such as cameras, access control, smart sensors, RTLS, Building Automation Systems etc. Also, this role provides project engineering support for with the project team and with our respective vendors in the industry.
  • Develop IoT and Connected system architectures
  • Work with industry vendors to evaluate and select technology platforms for the application.
  • Produce system designs and integration strategies
  • Ensure scalability and cybersecurity considerations
  • Continue to learn about emerging technologies
  • Troubleshoot connected systems and network related issues
  • Translate operational needs into technical requirements
  • Support end-user adoption and training.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • A minimum of 3+ years relevant experience working in a building systems/IoT field and project management environment dealing directly with professional consultants, general contractor, manufacturers, end users including onsite monitoring and inspection.
  • College diploma in Electrical or Engineering Technologist or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
  • Experience in healthcare environments and construction delivery processes strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record delivering building system projects involving IoT, BAS, AV, Security, RTLS, healthcare systems, etc.
  • Understanding of IP converged networks to allow for data exchange between systems to support integration requirements
  • Understanding of hyperconverged computing infrastructure including hypervisors, virtual machines, and storage solutions for on-premise deployment of building systems
  • Comfortable in the field and on construction work sites.
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel
