Job Summary

The Transit Facilities Maintenance Unit manages property functions related to maintenance, operation, and repair of transit facilities. You will primarily handle janitorial maintenance, snow removal, floor maintenance, landscaping, and operate various equipment and machinery. You may also perform minor shelter repairs and other assigned duties.

Education and Experience

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in cleaning and maintaining public facilities
• Must complete City training and obtain Ontario unrestricted CZ class driver’s license within employer-specified timeframe

Certifications and Licences

• Forklift Operator Licence within employer-specified timeframe
• Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence with no more than 6 demerit points

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with cleaning tools, chemicals, and maintenance tools
• Knowledge of landscaping and snow removal equipment and practices
• Understanding of workplace safety and ability to operate various machinery and vehicles
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in outdoor and physically demanding environments
• Customer service skills to interact positively with transit customers and handle confrontational situations
