Join to apply for the Support Services Attendant (GMCH) #2025-103 role at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

One (1) Regular Part Time Support Services Attendant position is available within our Support Services Department at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

Responsibilities include providing a clean and safe environment, performing room set ups, moving furniture, preparing, assembling, delivering, serving, and storing food within patient care and cafeteria settings, porting patients within the facility, managing transfer equipment supplies, and ensuring smooth flow of supplies through the facility. Adherence to guidelines set by the Ministry of Environment, PIDAC, the Government of Canada’s Food and Drug Act, and Public Health Ontario is required.

These positions are unionized with UNIFOR, Local 1106.

Qualifications
  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Experience in healthcare environmental cleaning or food services
  • Certificate in Cleaning in a Healthcare Environment preferred
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate or in-process of obtaining
  • Food Service Worker Program Certificate preferred
  • MSD prevention Safe Client and Materials Handling training, maintained annually
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Dependability and ability to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing carts, and climbing
  • WHMIS Training
  • Ability to operate hydraulic lift/scissor dock and other equipment preferred
  • Satisfactory performance, attendance, reference checks, police vulnerable sector check, and health assessment required
Working Conditions

Physical demands include repeated lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing carts, climbing ladders, and operating floor machines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform housekeeping, cleaning, disinfection, waste disposal, linen handling, and food delivery
  • Patient transfers within the facility
  • Receive, validate, and deliver hospital supplies, update electronic database
  • Manage hospital shipments and maintain supply levels
  • Follow Broader Public Sector (BPS) regulations and segregation of duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of work vary according to department schedule, including weekends on a rotating basis.

Salary ranges from $23.10 to $23.88 per hour.
