Building Science & Sustainability

London, ON

Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Building Science Technologist to join our Building Science & Sustainability team in our London Office.

The Building Science Technologist will demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of building systems including general knowledge of structure, building enclosures, mechanical and electrical systems, roofing systems, interior elements, site features, etc.

A Day in the Life of a Building Science Technologist at Pinchin:

1. Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments in accordance with ASTM standards and best construction practices at various client sites.
2. Perform Capital Planning Building Condition Assessments.
3. Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding, balconies, fenestrations, parking garages) to determine design and remedial work options.
4. Conduct invasive building assessments and testing (e.g., roof cut tests, water/leak tests).
5. Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements during projects.
6. Develop designs and specifications for restoration projects.
7. Perform construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are met.
8. Prepare written reports summarizing field data, findings, and interpretations, including detailed AutoCAD drawings.
9. Coordinate financial aspects of projects.
10. Maintain QA/QC and health & safety protocols within the team.
11. Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

• College Diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology/Science, Construction Technology, or Civil Engineering Technology; Bachelor of Science or Applied Science preferred.
• Experience with building construction or maintenance is preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and building envelope assemblies is preferred.
• Experience with Building Condition Assessments per ASTM E 2018-15 is an asset.
• Ability to read and edit technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Experience in technical report writing is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to safely handle tools and equipment, including transporting a 20-foot ladder.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle required (travel expenses reimbursed).
• Availability to travel.
