The Experienced Building Science Professional will evaluate, assess, and design for new and existing structures across various sectors. Responsibilities include client communication, site work, and delivering practical, creative solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Managing or assisting with project investigation, reporting, specification and drawing preparation, tendering, project management, quality observation, and liaising with clients, contractors, and manufacturers.
2. Managing or assisting with field reviews/testing, data collection, and preparing audits or investigative reports with observations, conclusions, recommendations, and budgets.
3. Controlling project budgets and schedules, ensuring technical competence, and maintaining quality and appearance of construction work.
4. Overseeing project teams to ensure onsite quality control and adherence to specifications and drawings.
5. Peer reviewing reports, specifications, and drawings.
6. Ensuring all deliverables are timely, within budget, and meet quality standards.
7. Participating in knowledge sharing and training activities.
8. Continuing technical development through training.
9. Demonstrating skills in budget, time management, and scheduling.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, Applied Engineering, or Architectural Technology, with over 10 years of related experience in building science, investigation, and design documentation.
• Excellent technical writing and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of building science, including air, water, vapor control.
• Understanding of construction materials, deterioration, and repair methods, especially building envelopes, fenestration, and cladding systems.
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; design software skills are a plus.
• Willingness to work at heights and access various work platforms.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle for site travel within Ontario; mileage is reimbursed.
