Job summary

Grey Highlands is seeking a Building Plan Examiner to perform technical reviews of building permit applications and construction drawings to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and related legislation.

The role supports permit processing, collaborates with applicants, designers and Building Officials, and aims to improve review efficiency while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• Post secondary diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Building Science, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Architecture or related field.
• Minimum three years in Building Plan Examination or related fields; municipal building services experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Review residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural and accessory building permit applications.
• Review building code requirements and ensure compliance with Building Code Act and other legislation.
• Identify deficiencies and provide detailed review comments; coordinate permit review with internal departments.
• Assist designers and applicants with code compliance and improve permit turnaround times.
