About The Role

As a CBRE Building Operator (4th class Power engineer), you will be responsible for maintaining small to medium-sized buildings, building systems, and equipment.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform daily rounds and log readings; investigate any issues.
  • Complete preventative/demand maintenance tasks and input histories into Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as needed.
  • Start-up/shutdown building infrastructure equipment.
  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair mechanical/electrical systems and equipment (including boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, life safety system, etc.).
  • Perform repairs such as replacing washers/faucets, clearing sinks, drains, sump pumps, resetting breakers, repairing pipe systems, etc.
  • Maintain fan/air handling units, including greasing bearings, replacing filters, belt inspections, and replacements.
  • Conduct water treatment tests.
  • Conduct generator tests.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all building infrastructure equipment.
  • Identify materials/services required for the operation of the facility.
  • Monitor building operation; respond to tenant/client requests and emergencies; identify problem areas; develop/initiate corrective actions.
  • Escalate unusual events, occurrences, or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Assist with and prepare monthly reports as required.
  • Work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other applicable codes.
  • Collaborate with other site building trades.
  • Oversee work of contractors/external service providers to ensure adherence to contract specifics and standards.
  • Assist with general building maintenance/repairs (e.g., painting, drywall, grounds maintenance).
  • Perform security rounds and respond to security incidents.
  • Maintain good relationships with tenants, staff, suppliers, contractors, and external service providers.
  • Operate company vehicle safely and responsibly if required.
  • Perform tasks involving working at heights, climbing ladders, and accessing rooftops, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Work independently in isolated areas, demonstrating self-reliance and decision-making skills while ensuring safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Must have a 4th class Power Engineering ticket.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in facilities maintenance and operations.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in accountability, judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, etc.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.
  • Willingness to be on call, work afternoon shifts, and Saturdays.
  • Authorized to work in Canada without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $68,000 annually, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include Group Retirement, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and more.
