Qualifications

  • Must hold a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Several years of experience in a high-pressure steam plant.

Job description

Under the direction of the Shift Engineer, the Assistant Shift Engineer assists with the operation of the boiler plant, is responsible for routine maintenance, minor repairs and good housekeeping in the plant and carries out the following duties:

  • Assists with routine plant operations as required;
  • Performs minor maintenance as directed by the Shift Engineer;
  • Responsible for cleanliness and safe conditions of operation areas;
  • Keeps other assigned areas in good order;
  • Performs minor maintenance of service equipment when required;
  • Complete other minor duties as required for the safety, improvement and day-to-day operation of the plant or distribution system.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Several years of experience working as a Power Engineer in a high-pressure steam plant.
  • Other industrial trade tickets or certificates are considered an asset e.g. Millwright and Plumbing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Delta V control Systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

  • Demonstrates a commitment to health and safety and role models safety leadership.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to thrive with minimal supervision.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a 24/7 shift work position with 12-hour day and night shifts.
  • You must be physically able to work in a steam plant.
