Job summary

Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is seeking a Building Code Technician to support safe, compliant community growth. You'll review permit applications, assess plans for compliance with the Ontario Building Code, and assist residents, builders, and contractors with technical inquiries.

The role blends customer service with technical expertise, requires knowledge of the Building Code Act, and may require evening meetings or overtime during peak periods.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service/technical support to handle permit inquiries.
• In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and related legislation.
• College diploma (2 years) in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science or related discipline.
• Experience or familiarity with Ontario Building Code Act, regulations and referenced standards.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries by phone, email and service counter.
• Ensure permit applications are complete for determination.
• Input permit data into CityView and manage documents.
• Preliminary plan reviews according to procedures and qualifications.
• Backfill for Permit Administrator and Zoning Administrator when needed.
