Job summary

Corus Entertainment Inc. in Toronto is seeking a video journalist to join Global News Toronto’s National Online Video Team. You’ll produce and edit video content for online and broadcast, manage live streams, and coordinate coverage for major breaking events.

The role requires 2–4 years in news writing/production, strong editing skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced, rotating schedule including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a broadcast related field; journalism degree is an asset.
• Must have 2–4 years of News writing or production experience.
• Must have 2–4 years of experience with non-linear editing tools (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Sony Vegas, Grass Valley).
• Experience live streaming on digital platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Periscope).

Responsibilities

• Produce daily news content, live events, and breaking coverage across multiple digital platforms (online, YouTube, Global's OTT, and broadcast).
• Create compelling video to support breaking news coverage of major stories.
• Coordinate live coverage and content delivery for Global News broadcast and digital properties.
• Coordinate coverage with National News Desk and National Online Team during breaking news.
• Oversee curation of video content on Globalnews.ca and the Global TV app.
• Provide editorial oversight for digital video coverage on issues like graphic content and factchecking.
• Write scripts, cut video clips, and produce content for Global News properties and OTT channel.
• Perform other duties as required.
