Position Summary

The Brand & Marketing Manager will drive the development and execution of comprehensive brand strategies for our clients. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in brand management, digital marketing, and possesses a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the non-profit sector. They will provide day-to-day leadership in assisting in growing and maintaining strong client relations; and brand projects to expand GMC’s client base—lead marketing initiatives to support clients' needs and drive results.
Key Accountabilities
Account & Project Management and Client Relations
- Based on project assignments, manage client communications to facilitate project implementation, reporting, and reviews.
- Support the development of campaign estimates for clients in the portfolio.
- Support client proposal development, enhancements to existing client work, and development of future projects by identifying and confirming client needs in coordination with other team leads.
- Manage accounts by inputting hours in Harvest and manage time effectively for all project tasks to ensure profitability.
- Work with project collaborators to coordinate timelines, ensure resource capacity and find additional resources, if needed. Project Development
- Lead development of marketing projects, strategy development and campaign development.
- Support the graphic design, marketing writing, strategic communications planning, branding, fundraising, and digital engagement team.
- Participate in branding processes for clients, including preparing documentation and presentations, participating in or supporting the facilitation of brand sessions, and ensuring follow-through on process and implementation.
- Assist as a copy editor for marketing and publicity projects (i.e. key press releases, email communications, ads, etc.) as needed.
- Assess marketing tactics and outcomes and employ best practices to improve client marketing performance.
- Identify and assess campaign and project metrics and KPIs and provide insights to the project team and client.
- Liaise with clients to ensure that:
- All necessary client assets are available and accessible to GMC;
- Approvals are obtained according to agreed-upon timelines,
- We deliver all promised services and products
- We provide quality assurance for clients, listening to and troubleshooting critiques and assessments of Graf-Martin Communications Inc.’s work
- We effectively liaise with other service providers to ensure all client needs are met, contracts are closed out, and final invoicing is complete, including all expenses related to the project.
- Manage subcontractors and subcontracted workloads as necessary, including graphic design.
- Provide cross-functional support by assisting with the development and execution of marketing and public relations campaigns, events, and promotional activities that reinforce brand identity and enhance public perception.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscapes that inform strategic marketing decisions.
Business Development
- Determine how to best communicate, and market our marketing work.
- Research to enhance GMC’s business offerings.
Research
- With the marketing team conduct comprehensive market research to understand the client sector, target audiences, and competitive landscapes. Analyze brand performance and audience perceptions using quantitative and qualitative research and methods. Develop and present insights and recommendations to guide brand strategy, positioning and messages.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in brand management and marketing, preferably within an agency setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading marketing teams and managing multiple client accounts. Strong understanding of the non-profit sector and the unique marketing challenges and opportunities it presents.
- Excellent strategic thinking, project management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, content management systems, and analytics software.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Passion for non-profit work and a commitment to supporting organizations that drive social change. Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Crossover skills in design, digital communication, public relations or copywriting are assets
- Second language is an asset (especially, French)
- Proven experience with the development of strategies, including digital marketing
- Proven excellent marketing communications skills (both written and verbal)

Nature and scope
Contacts
Internally – this position requires interaction with all Graf-Martin Communication Inc. team members, but most closely with the President and management team. Externally – this position involves regular interaction with clients, prospects, subcontractors and vendors. Interaction may include phone calls, in-person or online meetings, attending events and/or email correspondence.
Level of responsibility
This management-level position involves accountability for successful marketing campaign implementation and project management for Graf-Martin Communication Inc. clients. Another component consists in formulating strategies to expand the company’s offerings, generate repeat business and bring in new clients. The billable hours rate for this position is 60%.
Decision-making authority
This position is responsible for accurately pricing projects, producing/releasing client proposals, sourcing vendors for project-related work, and enlisting subcontractors as needed.
Physical and sensory demands
This position requires working at a desk, with long periods seated/working on a computer.
Working environment
The ideal primary work location for this position is the Graf-Martin Communication Inc. office, located at 40 Church St. W. in Elmira. Possible travel includes client meetings within southwestern Ontario and potential long-distance travel as needed.
