Job summary

Gescan, a leading electrical distributor with a storied regional presence, seeks a Branch Manager in Winnipeg to lead daily operations, drive profitability, manage staff, and build strong customer relationships to meet branch objectives.

You will coach teams, monitor performance, oversee inventory, and participate in strategic planning while ensuring safety and compliance in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • College/University Diploma in Business, Sales & Marketing or Technical focus preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, direction and monitoring of internal staff toward common goals.
  • Grow sales through coaching and motivating sales and support teams.
  • Maintain inventory levels at optimum.
  • Maintaining and growing customer relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Managing Inside Sales staff and conducting weekly sales meetings.
  • Representing the branch and company to the local community.

Scope of the Position

The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and profitability of the branch. This role oversees daily operations, ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, and works collaboratively with the Operations Manager, Director of Sales, and department leaders to achieve branch objectives. The Branch Manager is accountable for monitoring performance metrics, making informed business decisions, and driving continuous improvement. Additionally, the role focuses on developing a high-performing team, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, providing coaching and training to direct reports, and fostering a safe, productive, and positive work environment.

Major Responsibilities
  • Providing guidance, direction and monitoring of internal staff, ensuring departments are working effectively towards common goals.
  • Ensuring all staff are properly trained for their roles and the training is updated as required.
  • Growing sales through developing, coaching and motivating sales and support teams.
  • Maintaining inventory levels at optimum.
  • Ensuring that customer satisfaction is maintained as per the required Branch Operational Scorecard level.
  • Participating in customer calls for sales and technical support (if applicable).
  • Assisting with Warehouse and physical plant planning.
  • Vendor relations and planning.
  • Strategic and future management planning.
  • Participating in and/or recommending product training.
  • Solving customer / staff / company disputes.
  • Maintaining and growing business.
  • Outside sales – developing key relationships with customers including frequent on site visits.
  • Managing the Inside Sales staff.
  • Managing administrative and CSR functions within the branch.
  • Determining sales projections for fiscal year and tracking progress.
  • Conducting weekly sales meetings.
  • Resolving day to day personnel issues where management decisions are required.
  • Representing the Company to the local and industry community.
  • Other duties as required.
Education & Training
  • High School Diploma required.
  • College/University Diploma required (Business, and/or Sales & Marketing, or Technical focus preferred)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
Experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of related experience, preferable in a Sales/Distribution environment.
