Slegg Building Materials in Cumberland, BC is seeking two motivated Boom Truck Operators. The role transports materials to job sites using a truck-mounted crane with a Class 3+ license and air brakes endorsement. Shifts are Monday to Friday, 6:30am–3pm, with wage range $30.50–$39.50 per hour, Tiered by experience.

Training and ticketing for crane operation are provided. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, safe loading/unloading, load security, and customer communication.

We are currently looking for 2 highly motivated Class 3 or higher Boom Truck Operators. The Boom Truck Operator transports products to job sites and places these materials in requested work locations using the truck mounted crane. The shifts are Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3pm and the wage range is $30.50 - $39.50 per hour (Tier 1; $30.50 - $33.50, Tier 2; $33.50 - $36.50, Tier 3; $36.50 - $39.50).

Class 3 or higher drivers’ licence with air brakes endorsement required. For the right candidate, Slegg will provide the necessary training and ticketing to operate the crane.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip truck inspections and notify when maintenance is needed.
• Transport loads in a professional manner, following the road rules and representing the company to the highest standards.
• Ensure cleanliness of truck interior and exterior.
• Verify load security and accuracy.
• Deliver materials to the satisfaction of customers and maintain an emphasis on safety, service, and efficiency.
• Working with a dynamic delivery team of drivers and delivery helpers to deliver customer orders.
• Safe operation of the boom/ mobile crane while loading and unloading.
• Completion of a wide range of delivery types including; rooftop loads, ground drops, drywall and insulation, and packing inside buildings on jobsites.
• Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites.
• Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve issues as they arise.
• Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
• Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Basic Qualifications

• Valid Class 3 or higher driver’s license with air brakes endorsement required.
• Minimum of 1 year crane experience.
• Practical written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Basic hand tool skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs.
• Sitting and driving for long periods.
• Frequently climbing up and downstairs.
• Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer building materials between truck and job site.
