Job summary

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a motivated Boom Truck Operator to transport and position materials on job sites. The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3pm, with a wage range of CAD 30.50–39.50 per hour across three tiers based on experience.

Expect pre-trip inspections, safe lifting, and strong customer service. The position requires a valid Class 1 license with air brakes and a Level A crane ticket, plus solid communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Level A crane ticket with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Practical written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Basic hand tool skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip truck inspections and notify when maintenance is needed.
  • Manually load, unload, and carry heavy drywall sheets.
  • Transport loads professionally, following road rules and representing the company to high standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness of truck interior and exterior.
  • Verify load security and accuracy.
  • Deliver materials to customers' satisfaction with emphasis on safety, service and efficiency.
  • Safe operation of the boom/mobile crane while loading/unloading.
  • Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites.
  • Maintain contact with dispatch and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
  • Follow all regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Boom Truck Operator. The Boom Truck Operator transports products to job sites and places these materials in requested work locations. The shifts are Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3pm and the wage range is $30.50 - $39.50 per hour (Tier 1; $30.50 - $33.50, Tier 2; $33.50 - $36.50, Tier 3; $36.50 - $39.50).

Key Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs.
  • Sitting and driving for long periods.
  • Frequently climbing up and downstairs.
  • Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer building materials between truck and job site.
