Job summary

Convyta Partners in British Columbia seeks an experienced accounting professional to support our Administration team. You will handle journal entries, month-end close, reconciliations, GST/PST returns, and provide accounts payable/receivable support for pension and benefit plans.

Role requires at least two years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in financial management.
  • At least two years of accounting experience, preferably within a pension, finance and analytics context.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills; ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related databases.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post routine journal entries and perform month-end close tasks.
  • Monitor receivables/payables and support reconciliations, discrepancy investigations, and year-end activities.
  • Prepare and file GST/PST returns and assist with audits.
  • Invoice administration and processing of expenses; support multiple plans and departments.

Job description

Convyta delivers high-quality administration and advisory services tailored to the needs of pension & benefits plans, endowments, foundations, and other investment entities. Our Administration team provides third party pension and benefit plan administration. We work closely with the members and Trustees of negotiated cost pension and benefits plans in delivering superior member service and accurate plan information.

Our clients, the trustees of health and welfare trusts, defined benefit and defined contribution plans, value our breadth of experience and attention to detail and service in administering their plans.

Our team is made up of pension and benefit administrators, data analysts, accountants, support staff and consultants, focusing on making sure that plan members understand the benefits that have been negotiated on their behalf.

Responsibilities will include:
Accounting
  • Prepare and post routine journal entries.
  • Perform month end and year end accounting activities, including account reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • Accurately enter and maintain financial data and supporting documentation in the accounting system
  • Monitor outstanding receivables, vendor payments, and other financial transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required.
  • Review, reconcile, and clear general ledger accounts on a timely basis.
  • Provide administrative and accounting support to other departments as required.
  • Assist with yearend audit tasks.
  • Prepare and file GST/PST returns
Accounts Payable
  • Prepare and process electronic funds transfers (EFTs) and other payments.
  • Investigate payment discrepancies and work with internal departments
  • Print cheques from QuickBooks.
Accounts Receivable
  • Administer and invoice Convyta expenses for reimbursement from the various plans.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and work with internal departments to trace the receivables.
  • Collect admin fees from various plans.
  • Update daily cash flow updates for the various plans.
  • Reconcile Individual Premium payments from various plans.
Work Experience:
  • Post-secondary education or formal training in financial management
  • At least two years' previous accounting experience, preferably within a pension, finance and analytics, and concise phone manner.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced level skills using a variety of computerized software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), related databases and Internet.

Our office is centrally located near the Brentwood Sky Train station for an easy commute from around the Lower Mainland. The successful candidate will be provided with a competitive salary, benefits and vacation package, along with opportunity for continuous growth within their career.

The salary range for the successful candidate is $60,000 to $70,000, plus a generous bonus and competitive benefits package/RRSP plan. Convyta offers continuous growth and supports employees' personal and professional development.
