Job summary

The Hazelwood Group in Nanaimo, BC is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper with 1–3 years of experience to support accounting tasks across our divisions. The role involves processing invoices, reconciliations, and bank activity, with learning opportunities in a collaborative finance team.

You’ll work with QuickBooks Online and Excel, ensuring accurate records and timely month-end tasks. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of bookkeeping, accounting or related administrative experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience with invoicing, payables or reconciliations an asset, with training provided

Responsibilities

  • Processing invoices, payments and customer billings
  • Tracking receipts, deposits and company credit-card transactions
  • Assisting with bank and account reconciliations
  • Entering transactions and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting tax remittances, month-end and year-end preparation
  • Keeping financial files organized and up to date
  • Responding to routine accounting questions and team coverage as needed

Compensation

  • $27.00 to $31.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll support a variety of day-to-day bookkeeping tasks while learning and growing your skills. Working with the accounting team, you’ll help with:
    • Processing invoices, payments and customer billings
    • Tracking receipts, deposits and company credit-card transactions
    • Assisting with bank and account reconciliations
    • Entering transactions and maintaining accurate records
    • Supporting tax remittances, month-end and year-end preparation
    • Keeping financial files organized and up to date
    • Responding to routine accounting questions and supporting the team with coverage as needed

What You Bring:

  • 1–3 years of bookkeeping, accounting or related administrative experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, with a willingness to keep learning
  • Experience withQuickBooks Onlineor another accounting system
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel and other common office tools
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • A reliable, adaptable and team-oriented approach
  • Clear communication and a willingness to ask questions
  • Ability to handle financial information with care and integrity
  • Initiative, curiosity and an interest in growing your bookkeeping skills
  • Experience with reconciliations, invoicing or payables is an asset, but training and support will be provided
