Job summary

A leading company in Edmonton is seeking a full-time financial support professional to assist with maintaining financial accountability and accurate reporting in collaboration with the CFO. The ideal candidate will have a relevant post-secondary degree and at least three years of experience in accounting or finance, along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Accounting/Finance/Business Management.
  • Experience in accounting/finance roles (3+ years).
  • Knowledge of financial cash flows, budgeting, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Work with CFO to maintain financial accountability.
  • Assist with reporting, forecasting, and budget amendments.
  • Communicate directly with clients for reporting needs.

Job description

Position: This job is classified as full-time (37.5 hours / week) and is a funding-based position.

Apply by: Will remain open until a suitable candidate is secured.

Overview: The candidate will work in conjunction with the CFO to maintain financial accountability requirements and ensure the accuracy of quarterly reporting.

Assist our client with reporting, forecasting, and budget amendments.

Work daily in Teams to ensure documents are saved, filed, and shared appropriately.

Keep track of reporting timelines and past-due reports.

Communicate directly with our client to support their reporting needs.

Assist in creating contract documents related to funding (e.g., contribution agreements, payment letters, updated cash flow templates) as needed.

Other duties as directed by the CFO and CEO.

Location: Edmonton, AB

Responsibilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products, specifically Excel and Teams.
  • At least three years of accounting/financial knowledge, terminology, and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage50) or similar.
  • Capacity to quickly learn new software.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule demanding work assignments.
  • Develop and maintain efficient recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Possess advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of financial cash flows, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statements such as income statements and balance sheets.
  • Ability to gather and research relevant data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of urban Indigenous Movement, structure, and processes will be considered an asset.
Requirements:

Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field, with at least three years of relevant accounting and/or finance experience.
