Position Summary

The Booking Clerk in Diagnostic Imaging is responsible for booking patient appointments, registering patients for Medical Imaging confidentially and professionally. Duties include report distribution, monitoring transmissions, media copying, collecting payments, and updating physician and patient information. Effective communication, independence, teamwork, and prioritization in a fast-paced environment are essential. This role supports our academic mandate by advancing care through teaching, learning, research, and innovation, while ensuring health and safety policies are followed for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record all booking requests and assign times accordingly.
  • Obtain all relevant booking information.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant departments regarding bookings and patient transportation.
  • Guide patients to change areas and inform them of any preparations needed (e.g., oral contrast, water intake) and notify staff upon patient readiness.
  • Manage multiple phone lines from units and external physicians.
  • Prepare and distribute daily lists, ensure efficient fax transmission of medical records, troubleshoot, and distribute reports to physicians.
  • Greet patients professionally during registration, collecting and documenting relevant information.
  • Update patient information as needed.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and typing skills (minimum 40 w.p.m.).
  • Have working knowledge of Cerner registration, Cerner scheduling, and Microsoft Word.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • OSSD or equivalent.
  • Experience with Cerner registration, Cerner scheduling, and Microsoft Word preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in an office environment, preferably in Medical Imaging.
  • Bilingual in French/English is an asset.
