Job summary

The West Vancouver Police Department is seeking to fill one Permanent Full Time Block Watch & Operations Support Coordinator position. The role coordinates and administers the Department's Block Watch Program while providing operational and administrative support to the Operations Section.

This in-office position runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, requires Grade 12 plus administrative education/experience, and a minimum of two years in a law enforcement environment.

Job description

The West Vancouver Police Department is looking to fill one (1) Permanent Full Time Block Watch & Operations Support Coordinator position.

The Block Watch & Operations Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and administering the Department's Block Watch Program while providing operational and administrative support to the Operations Section. This role serves as a key liaison between community crime prevention initiatives and operational policing activities, supporting departmental priorities through coordination, information management, administrative support, scheduling support, and operational processes.

Basic requirements are Grade 12, supplemented with administrative education and/or experience with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a law enforcement environment, or a suitable combination of training and experience. A basic knowledge of the Department’s operations, policies, and procedures as it relates to the position would be considered an asset.

Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to be effective in requesting and delivering information and apply logic and sound judgement in prioritizing workload for multiple assignments. Attention to detail to critically evaluate data and information with accuracy and perception is essential in the performance of the assigned duties. Applicants should also possess experience working in a team-based environment that focuses on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including a polygraph examination.

This will be an in-office position, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
