Job summary

Cahill Fabrication Structural, a division of The Cahill Group, is recruiting Blasters for our Torbay, NL fabrication facility to support major Canadian defense shipbuilding projects and other fabrication work across offshore, mining, industrial, and commercial sectors.

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, successful candidates will operate abrasive blasting equipment, prepare surfaces, and collaborate with Painters to maintain safe, efficient workflows in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial or fabrication blasting is preferred.
  • Experience with abrasive blasting equipment in fabrication/shipbuilding is preferred.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation standards and coating requirements is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Operate abrasive blasting equipment to prepare steel surfaces for painting and coating.
  • Remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, and other surface contaminants from structural steel components.
  • Inspect blasted surfaces to ensure they meet project specifications and coating requirements.
  • Work closely with Painters and other production personnel to maintain workflow and production schedules.

Job description

Cahill Fabrication Structural, a division of The Cahill Group, is currently recruiting Blasters to join our team at our fabrication facility in Torbay, NL.

As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to major Canadian defense shipbuilding projects, fabricating structural steel components that support one of the country's largest and most significant marine construction programs, while also working on a diverse range of fabrication projects across the offshore, mining, industrial, and commercial sectors. As we continue to grow, we're hiring Fitters, Welders, CNC Operators, Blasters, Painters, and Production Workers to support the exciting work happening at our fabrication facility.   • Successful candidates will be hired in accordance with the terms and conditions of the FFAW/Unifor Collective Agreement, including applicable wage rates, premiums, and benefits.
  • Rate: $29.10/hour for Journeypersons.

Roles and Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Previous industrial or fabrication blasting experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with abrasive blasting equipment in a fabrication, industrial, offshore, or shipbuilding environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation standards and coating requirements is considered an asset.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
