Job summary

AbbVie in Westport is seeking a Supervisor, Bioassay NPI with a Biological Sciences background and at least five years’ laboratory leadership experience. The role oversees cell-based potency assays and ELISA testing for development products, ensuring QA/EHS compliance and timely release of projects.

You will coach scientists, manage staffing, and coordinate with Microbiology, Chemistry, Production, QA, and Planning to meet milestones.

Qualifications

• Biological Sciences degree with minimum BSc.
• At least five years’ laboratory experience with proven team leadership.
• Knowledge of biologics manufacturing, bioassays, biochemistry, and biostatistics in GMP testing.
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
• Excellent conflict-handling, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to upskill and collaborate.
• Ability to meet priorities and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide motivation to the team and take corrective action as needed.
• Hold performance meetings in line with company policy.
• Participate in recruitment of team members.
• Update Kronos and manage attendance performance.
• Train and certify new employees.
• Ensure activities comply with QA, EHS, and corporate standards.
• Maintain capacity and staffing in line with needs.
• Coach Analytical Technology Specialists for IDPs and development.
• Provide data within testing timelines to support product release and stability.
• Provide team KPI data and participate in OPEX/department meetings.
• Review and approve local and corporate documents.
• Collaborate with Microbiology, Chemistry, Production, QA, and Planning to ensure timely release of development products.
