Job description

Group Disability is seeking an action-oriented individual with a strong team spirit, client-oriented service skills, high autonomy, and problem-solving abilities to join its fast-paced team as a Short Term Disability (STD) Intake Case Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing straightforward STD claims from intake to resolution.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Build and maintain strong service relationships with plan members, plan sponsors, healthcare providers, and internal partners.
  2. Identify and efficiently gather outstanding claims assessment information.
  3. Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness in all tasks.
  4. Develop strong written (emails, formal letters) and telephone communication skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
  5. Manage time effectively and stay organized.
  6. Review incoming STD claim applications against established criteria.
  7. Follow up to gather outstanding information.
  8. Maintain frequent contact via email and telephone with plan members, sponsors, and healthcare providers.
  9. Triaging claims through contractual, medical, functional, and vocational analysis.
  10. Approve, pay, and manage STD claims following established processes.
  11. Transfer claims to higher levels when necessary.
  12. Maintain productive relationships with internal partners to meet client service goals.
  13. Prioritize and re-prioritize tasks to meet tight turnaround times.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bilingual (French & English) is required to support clients across jurisdictions outside Quebec.
  2. Strong organizational, prioritization, and planning skills with attention to detail.
  3. Ability to handle high workloads and short turnaround times.
  4. Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
  5. Excellent professional relationship management and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Familiarity with medical terminology.
  2. Intermediate skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
  3. Previous experience with Group Disability Claims is an asset.
