Job summary

Medavie, a national health solutions partner in Canada, is seeking a Senior Disability Claims Consultant to lead coaching and development of disability claims specialists and consultants. You will monitor case management lifecycle, ensure quality, and support collaboration with members, employers, and healthcare providers to achieve effective outcomes.

  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in disability case management with another insurer or government agency managing short- and long-term disability claims.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to successfully review and correct various communications, interview and decision letters to claimants, providers, physicians, employers, group administrators, human resources, and lawyers.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of contract wording, with the ability to thoroughly analyze disability management trend reports, medical reports, and other available tools (e.g., Independent Medical Exams, Functional Capacity Evaluations, surveillance, and medical consultant reviews).
  • Background in training or in coaching in order to communicate complex and difficult concepts clearly with logic, tact and sensitivity will be considered as a strong asset
  • A deep understanding of the health care and insurance fields, health-related terminology, concepts of accommodation and return to work
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required to perform the duties of the role, which include daily collaboration with teams and partners in Canada who operate in both languages.

Summary

As the Senior Disability Claims Consultant, you will provide quality and cost-effective coaching strategies designed to increase individual and organizational productivity. On a daily basis, you will provide development opportunities that enhance knowledge, develop skills and enrich Disability claims specialists and consultant’s capability. Success will be measured based on the development capacity of coachee’s to produce high-quality case management and performance. In this role, your coaching interventions will focus on short term and long-term disability case management processes. You will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and supporting all critical components of the case management lifecycle for your coaches, including:

Pay Range: $82,648 to $91,831 CAD
