Job summary

Paracel Laboratories in Ottawa is seeking a Junior Analyst to join our team at the St. Laurent lab. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dexterous and driven to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The Junior Analyst handles analyses in a lab section, prepares standards and reagents, and supports research under supervision. The position offers 17.60–21.00 CAD per hour, full health/dental benefits, Employee Family Assistance Program, a Group RRSP plan and a Profit-Sharing program.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or diploma in a chemical/biological field or equivalent.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow work instructions and procedures.
• Strong manual dexterity and reliability.
• Ability to work independently or in a team with QA/QC awareness.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses per in-house protocols and QC requirements.
• Prepare lab standards and reagents for routine and research analyses.
• Conduct analysis QC and maintain a clean workspace.
• Collate and tabulate data; monitor supplies as needed.
• Comply with QA/QC and Health & Safety policies.

The Opportunity:

Paracel Laboratories is looking for a Junior Analyst to join our team at our St. Laurent lab in Ottawa.

The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented, dexterous and driven to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The Junior Analyst is responsible for performing analyses within a discrete section of the Laboratory (i.e. Organic, Inorganic).

This involves sample preparations and manipulations, standards/reagent preparation according to established methods and QC protocols, and assistance on research projects as required under the direct supervision of the Department Supervisor.

Compensation: This position offers a salary range of $17.60 to $21.00 hourly.

The compensation package includes full health/dental benefits, and includes Employee Family Assistance Program, a Group RRSP plan and a Profit-Sharing program.

Location: This role is on-site; full time opportunity at 2319 St.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring that all tests are performed according to the established in-house protocols.

Responsible for performing analyses, and the preparation of lab standards and reagent, for both routine and research related analyses.

Responsible for performing analysis QC.

Maintaining and cleaning workspace in the laboratory.

Assists in collating and tabulating data.

Monitoring and requisitioning supplies as required.

Comply with company QA/QC and Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

B.Sc.

or Chemical/Biology/Biochemistry Technology Diploma or equivalent with less than 1 year related experience.

Superb attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to effectively follow/interpret work instructions, methods and procedures.

High degree of manual dexterity.

Highly reliable and deadline-driven.

Thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Good understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC).

Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

Experience with ICP-MS is an asset.

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Proven computer skills including MS office (Word and Excel).
