YMCA of the National Capital Region is seeking a dedicated Case Manager for Housing Services. You will assess housing eligibility, conduct interviews, develop individual plans, and provide counselling and referrals to diverse clients in a community setting.

What do you offer?

The Housing Support Office operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and provides programs and services for those with Affordable / Social Housing needs. Over 2000 individuals take part in programs including Supportive Housing, Family Shelter, and Transitional Housing for youth and women, counseling, and referral. The Case Manager role serves women, men and families.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

• Providing general information to individuals and agencies regarding eligibility for housing in the Y’s Housing Services.
• Scheduling and conducting interviews with housing applicants.
• Developing and maintaining individual goal plans with assigned clients.
• Providing case management, counselling support, crisis intervention, and referrals for clients.
• Providing life and social skills workshops.
• Maintaining standards for reporting and operating procedures.
• Reporting statistical data.
• Ensuring client confidentiality and that all files and records are secure.
• Building and maintaining relationships with relevant agencies.
• Maintaining the workplace to ensure a safe and clean environment.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

• Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field

Language

• Fluent in English and French, oral and written
• Other languages are an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

• Minimum 2 years of experience in social services, preferably with youth
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the housing field preferred
• Knowledge and sensitivity in dealing with individuals with homelessness, addiction, and mental health
• Knowledge of community resources relevant to youth
• Training in suicide intervention and non-violent crisis intervention preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Proven facilitation skills for workshops and information sessions

Additional Requirements:

• Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification.
• Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
• A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.

• Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
