Job summary

McCarthy Tétrault is a leading Canadian law firm with offices nationwide, including Calgary. We seek a Client Agreement Auditor to join our national team. The role is bilingual in French and English and supports engagement letter compliance and outside counsel guidelines across the firm.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years’ experience in legal or professional services, strong communication, and knowledge of information-management practices. Hybrid work environment offered across our offices.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience related to database management principles.
• Minimum 3-5 years of related experience, ideally in a legal or professional services environment.
• Bilingual (English/French) with excellent verbal and written communication skills is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Audit engagement letters for compliance with firm policies, regulatory requirements, and client obligations.
• Review engagement letters for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with templates and standard provisions.
• Identify potential compliance concerns, and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Track audit findings and prepare reports highlighting trends and risks.
• Provide training to Legal Assistants and Lawyers regarding engagement letter requirements and processes.
• Collaborate with lawyers, legal assistants, and business professionals to address deficiencies identified during audits.
• Maintain records relating to engagement letter reviews, audit results, and remediation activities.
• Assist with developing and updating engagement letter templates, standards, and best practices.
• Manage the administration of the firm's OCG process including reviewing client intake forms in Intapp Intake.
• Identify OCGs against the firm’s key client list, ensuring up-to-date references and finalization.
• Oversee OCG terms in Intapp Terms and ensure relevant approvals.
• Review outside counsel requests and ensure collection of required documentation.
• Coordinate review of outside counsel guidelines, retention agreements, and related documentation.
• Monitor compliance with policies governing retention and management of external providers.
• Track engagement renewals, terminations, and other milestones.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding outside counsel matters.
