Job summary

Intelcom | Dragonfly seeks a BI professional to lead analytics initiatives across business needs and data modeling. You will translate requirements into robust Power BI solutions and data flows, from design to deployment, with governance in mind.

Collaborating with pan-Canadian stakeholders, you will validate data accuracy, drive continuous improvement, and mentor users in self-service analytics while delivering reliable insights and scalable reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of experience on BI, analytics, or related data projects.
• Translate business requirements into data flows, rules, and specifications.
• Strong SQL and data modeling knowledge.
• Practical experience with Power BI or similar BI platform.
• Ability to validate data and explain technical concepts to non-experts.

Responsibilities

• Own BI solutions from requirements through testing and deployment.

A Strategic Role at the Heart of Logistics

A Strategic Role at the Heart of Logistics Responsibilities Business Requirements and Solution Ownership Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the business problem, decision, data, and analytical requirements before defining a solution. Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements, including business rules, data definitions, transformation logic, workflows, and acceptance criteria. Own assigned BI solutions from requirements and detailed design through development, validation, User Acceptance Testing, deployment support, and continuous improvement. Challenge unclear or duplicative requirements and identify when an existing solution can be extended rather than creating new reporting.

BI Development and Data Modeling

Develop and maintain BI solutions using Power BI or similar tools, SQL, and sound data and semantic modeling practices. Reuse and extend existing reports, governed datasets, semantic models, measures, and common definitions before introducing new report-specific logic where appropriate. Contribute to solution architecture and detailed design in collaboration with senior BI developers and Data Engineering. Document solutions sufficiently to support maintainability, knowledge transfer, and ongoing support.

Quality, Validation, and Support

Develop and document test scenarios and validate reports, dashboards, datasets, and business logic before release. Prepare and accompany users through User Acceptance Testing and support adoption of delivered solutions. Participate in incident and problem resolution, identify root causes, and propose sustainable solutions and action plans. Apply a strong quality mindset to data accuracy, reliability, and solution performance.

Continuous Improvement and SelfService

Identify and recommend opportunities to improve performance, automate repetitive work, reduce duplication, and simplify existing solutions. Support and train application super users and contribute to progressively enabling governed self-service. Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to reusable practices, documentation, and team standards. Proactively propose practical improvements rather than waiting for detailed direction.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accuracy and reliability of BI solutions and business logic.
• On-time delivery of assigned BI solutions and quality of validation before release.
• Reuse of existing governed datasets, semantic models, measures, and reporting capabilities where appropriate.
• Reduction of recurring manual work, duplicate logic, and avoidable support issues.
• Adoption and usability of delivered solutions by business stakeholders.
• Quality of documentation, maintainability, and knowledge transfer.
• Demonstrated growth in independent problem solving and solution ownership.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of experience working on business intelligence, analytics, or related data projects.
• Experience translating business requirements into data flows, business rules, data dictionaries, functional specifications, and analytical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Analytics, Business Analysis, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational data concepts.
• Practical experience with Power BI or a similar business intelligence platform.
• Good knowledge of ETL/ELT principles, data modeling standards, and semantic modeling concepts.
• Ability to understand business processes and translate requirements into maintainable analytical solutions.
• Ability to validate data, troubleshoot issues systematically, and explain complex technical concepts to non-experts.
• The role involves daily (or regular) communication with pan-Canadian stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Preferred Experience with cloud data platforms, version control, APIs, or modern BI development practices.
• Experience supporting business users through training, UAT, and self-service analytics.
• Experience improving or automating existing BI processes and solutions.
