THE ROLE
As a Benefits Specialist, your role is to provide outstanding client service while efficiently managing the administration and servicing of a designated block of direct clients. This hybrid role is based in Barrie, ON. Your responsibilities include ensuring seamless communication with clients, addressing inquiries, and managing overall client satisfaction. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to the organization’s success.
YOUR IMPACT
- You will engage with clients proactively to ensure best-in-class service.
- You will support the retention and renewal processes.
- You will assist in onboarding new clients for a smooth transition.
- You will manage plan member eligibility in a Benefits Administration platform.
- You will educate clients and administer plans according to carrier guidelines and policy plan design.
- You will communicate with clients and providers via email, phone, and video meetings.
- You will handle claim and coverage inquiries.
- You will coordinate plan amendments with internal departments and carriers.
- You will support clients with system access and usability, providing training as needed.
- You will maintain accurate client documentation.
- You will create and deliver client presentations as required.
- You will perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
WHAT TO EXPECT
30 Days:
- Engage in 1-on-1 meetings to understand workflow.
- Complete CRM and WEBS basic training.
- Review training materials related to systems and processes.
- Demonstrate ability to use Enrol-Me.
- Show initiative and willingness to learn.
60 Days:
- Identify department responsibilities for specific lines of business.
- Receive approval for basic administrative changes.
- Gain understanding of GroupHEALTH benefits and products.
- Review multicarrier eligibility guidelines.
- Support teamwork with colleagues.
90 Days:
- Confidently operate internal systems and train clients on external systems.
- Understand client service expectations and business processes.
- Achieve a target SLA of 90% and promote GroupHEALTH services.
- Identify a 'raving fan' of your service within 90 days.
- Complete the Group Life and Health Primer course (4 courses).
THIS IS YOU
- You have at least 2 years of customer service experience in an office or professional setting.
- You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- You are an effective communicator across various modalities.
- You are passionate about customer service and client support.
- You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- You are comfortable with multiple systems and have strong computer skills.
- You can confidently present to small groups.
- Experience with group benefits or customer service is an asset.
THIS IS NICE
- Experience with group benefits support roles is preferred.
- You are enrolled in or have completed your GBA designation.
- You have post-secondary education.

YOUR COMPENSATION
The estimated pay range is $55,000-$60,000, determined by skills, experience, and education. This range reflects base pay and does not include total rewards, benefits, or bonuses.
