Job summary

VITA is a non-profit organization providing supports and services to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. We are hiring a Behavioural Analyst on a full-time contract until January 2028 to conduct behavioural assessments and design implementation plans for individuals with intellectual disabilities and dual diagnosis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Psychology or related field (asset).
  • Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with offenders with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong listening, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Completes behavioural assessments and provides recommendations for referrals within the agency.
  • Designs and monitors behavioural and cognitive behavioural orientation from referrals.
  • Refers intrusive programs for approval to ensure members’ behavioural needs are addressed.
  • Reviews and summarizes data, evaluates and revises individual behavioural plans.
  • Develops and implements client groups or individual cognitive behavioural therapy as needed.
  • Participates in training initiatives for direct support staff in behaviour supports.
  • Facilitates group and individual therapies from a cognitive-behavioural orientation.
  • Provides risk management info to Directors and assists in crisis management strategies.
  • Consults with colleagues and Directors as part of the team process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Director of Clinical and Educational Services you will be responsible for

  • Completes behavioural assessments and provides corresponding recommendations for referrals within the agency.
  • Designs and monitors behavioural and cognitive behavioural orientation received from referrals.
  • Refers any intrusive programs to the Director of Clinical & Educational Services and to the Executive Director for approval to ensure member’s behavioural needs are addressed.
  • Reviews and summarizes on going data collection, evaluates and revises individual behavioural plans to ensure member’s needs are met.
  • May develop and implement various client groups, as well as provide individual cognitive behavioural therapy independently or in conjunction with colleagues or community partners.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of training initiatives to meet the needs of direct support staff in the areas of behaviour supports.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapies from a cognitive-behavioural orientation.
  • Provides immediate information to the Director of Clinical & Educational Services or designate with respect to any risk management issues or potential crisis and assists in generating strategies for preventative and crisis management.
  • Review’s member issues with colleagues and the Director of Clinical & Educational Services and is available to consult to colleagues as part of the team process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical & Educational Services.
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Minimal B.A. degree an asset in Behavioural Psychology, Behavioural Science Technology Diploma and/or graduate level education in Psychology.
  • Minimum 2 years experience post graduate working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience working with offenders with intellectual or development disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license is a Requirement.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Well-developed and highly effective listening, communication, presentation, and persuasive skills, including the ability to receive, process and present information to diverse audiences while maintaining effective collaborative relationships.
  • Proven success in building relationships and fostering a positive, inclusive organizational culture within a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with and influence all levels of management, strong record of collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication, excellent people and change management skills, excellent supervisory skills.
  • Evaluate, modify, and implement solutions to complex problems and situations, meet short/long term deadlines, set priorities, and work effectively under pressure of high-volume work.
  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively as a member of a team, exercise tact and diplomacy and deal with people in a calm and effective manner in sometimes sensitive situations.
  • Responds well to changing priorities or circumstances and demonstrates resilience and positivity when faced with disruptions or obstacles.
  • Robust interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build relationships throughout the organization.
  • Highly energic, motivated with strong creative and innovative skills.
  • Functional in French speaking language is an asset.
