Job summary

Umbrella Family is seeking a Before and After Educator at Gatestone Centre in Stoney Creek, ON. This permanent, part-time role features 27.75 total hours per week, with shifts Monday to Friday 7:00am–9:30am and 3:15pm–6:00pm.

You will develop and implement programs for JK/SK and school-aged children, provide snacks, supervise activities, and ensure safety, while meeting ECE requirements and duties outlined in the posting. Benefits include a comprehensive package and unionized environment.

Qualifications

• ECE Diploma or equivalent progress toward Director’s Approval to work alone with children
• Experience in childcare settings
• Ability to interact with children requiring behavioural guidance

Total Hours per Week

27.75 (including 1.5 hours programming time)

Schedule

Monday-Friday 7:00am-9:30am & 3:15pm-6:00pm

Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants)

• RECE- $28.00 per hour
• Non RECE- $26.35

About the Role

As a Before and After School Educator, your primary responsibility is to be present for children and their families while developing and implementing programs that meet their developmental needs and interests. You will create meaningful play experiences, provide healthy snacks, supervise outdoor and indoor activities, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.

Duties vary by centre, but your role always includes supporting children, assisting colleagues, and contributing to a welcoming and well-organized environment.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) and member in good standing with the College of ECEs OR educational requirements to obtain Director’s Approval for working alone with children
• Related experience in a childcare setting
• Demonstrated knowledge and working ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance
• Demonstrated knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
• Experience in program planning and implementation for JK/SK and school-aged children
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Flexibility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and schedules
• Passion for supporting children, families, and colleagues in a positive, team-focused environment

Certifications

• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Proof ofup-to-date immunizations(TB, Tetanus, MMR)
