Job summary

Upper Canada Child Care, a non-profit licensed provider since 1983, is hiring an Assistant Educator for Keswick at St. Thomas Aquinas CES. This full-time, in-centre role supports before- and after-school programs, with split shifts Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will have a Vulnerable Sector Check, CPR-C and First Aid, and experience with play-based learning and documentation to engage children and communicate with families.

Qualifications

• Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
• Health assessment and immunization as per legislation.
• CPR-C and Standard First Aid certifications.
• Basic knowledge of child development and play-based learning.
• Experience with inquiry/play-based program design.

Responsibilities

• Applies legislative expectations to align with Ministry requirements and Upper Canada Child Care’s program statements.
• Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions.
• Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience, including meals, diapering, dressing, etc.
• Fosters ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
• Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administrative tasks.
• Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation to inform program development.
• Collaborates with team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to support all children.
• Provides guidance to students and volunteers as needed.
• Identifies children in need of additional support and helps design and implement resources.
