Job description

OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for the proper and professional preparation of all beverages for all 1927 and In-Room Dining guests. Responsible for taking food and beverage orders, retrieving and serving alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages, and food orders to guest tables according to Rosewood Hotel Georgia specifications, courteously and efficiently. Collecting payment from guests, processing bills in a timely manner, and following proper cash handling procedures. Responsible for attending briefings, seminars, etc., to educate themselves about our products, property, and standards. Ensure all shift duties are completed and sections maintained to hotel standards. Participate in the ongoing maintenance and cleanliness of 1927.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Tend bar and prepare drinks for customers as per standard recipes.
  • Cleans and prepares bar for closing.
  • Maintain bar cleanliness throughout shift.
  • Take inventory and order supplies; maintain kegs.
  • Maintain cash float.
  • Correctly submit consumption reports of all beverage items.
  • Follow all breakage and spillage procedures.
  • Ensure correct ordering procedures and inter-bar transfers are adhered to.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment use, ensuring maintenance and upkeep.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Follow hotel grooming guidelines and dress code.
  • Resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction, involving management when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas.
  • Be familiar with hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to guest inquiries.
  • Maintain knowledge of sections, table numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, and service standards.
  • Complete opening side duties, including stock checks, requisitions, setup, and maintenance of bar and workstations.
  • Take food and beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Assist in service and hospitality at all times.
  • Proactively prevent complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Record guest orders accurately and input into system.
  • Serve wine/champagne with proper presentation.
  • Make and serve coffee.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all service areas.
  • Present guest checks, process payments, and adhere to cash handling policies.
  • Extend appreciation and invite guests to return.
  • Clean and reset bar and tables after guest departure.
  • Collect tips and report at shift end.
  • Complete closing duties, including storage, cleaning, restocking, and reporting.
  • Report to supervisor before leaving the floor.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in an upscale restaurant or cocktail lounge. Hotel experience is an asset.

Education: High school diploma; diploma/degree in Hospitality Management or Mixology preferred.

Skills: Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, organization, problem-solving, teamwork, confidentiality, flexibility in shifts.

Technical Skills: Certification from an accredited bartending/mixology school, Serving It Right Certification, knowledge of beverage preparation, and familiarity with POS systems (MICROS experience is an asset).

Language: Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.

Physical Requirements: Ability to exert physical effort, transport 75 pounds, physical movements, and communicate effectively with guests and staff.

Licenses & Certifications: Serving It Right, FoodSafe, or equivalent certifications; must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
