Job summary

Sandman Hotel Group is seeking a dynamic hospitality leader in Richmond, BC, to guide our banquet and service teams and deliver exceptional guest experiences. You will lead the floor staff, coordinate with event hosts, and drive flawless service from setup to wrap-up.

You will manage events, coach staff, and handle client communications, staffing, and billing with a focus on cost control and seamless operations while maintaining a positive, energetic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure tables and service flow run smoothly and guests have a seamless experience.
  • Lead floor staff, ensure proper uniforming and exceptional service, and coordinate with hosts or event coordinators.
  • Address questions or concerns promptly during or before service and supervise events from start to finish.
  • Manage event supervision and execution to ensure client satisfaction and successful outcomes.
  • Handle client communications, set up meetings, send contracts, and manage billing processes.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to banquet staff to maintain high performance.
  • Arrange full room setups including A.V. and bar services and monitor room conditions during service.
  • Oversee bar operations and liquor orders and monitor scheduling and labor costs.
  • Perform general administration (invoicing, contracts, customer inquiries) and maintain positive team morale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure tables are decorated correctly, food is presented well, and service goes off without a hitch
  • Manage the floor staff, ensure team members are dressed in uniform and delivering exceptional guest service in a friendly yet speedy manner
  • Work directly with the event coordinators or hosts, problem solve in the moment when addressing questions or concerns that may arise during or before service.
  • Be the lead on event supervision and execution
  • Manage clients in an efficient yet organized manner including setting up meetings, forwarding contracts, billing, etc.
  • Deliver feedback and coaching to banquet team
  • Provide full room set-ups including A.V. and bar
  • Ensure rooms are checked and maintained throughout the service
  • Manage the bar and liquor orders
  • Manage scheduling and labor costs
  • Handle administration duties including (but not limited to) invoicing and A/R, contracts, customer service (email and phone inquiries)
  • Demonstrate leadership by building positive team morale

  • Ability to manage multiple variables - the food, the costs, pricing, scheduling and more

  • High stamina (as you will be on their feet most of the day)
