Job summary

Fairmont Palliser in Calgary is seeking a Banquet Server to deliver luxury service at events, coordinate with the events team, and create memorable dining experiences for guests.

The role focuses on evenings and weekends, requires strong English communication, prior events or fine dining experience, and a collaborative, high‑energy mindset; flexibility for holidays and special occasions is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Previous experience in events or fine dining (serving or bartending) is an asset.
• Flexible availability, with emphasis on evenings and weekends, including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet rooms and function areas in the hotel.
• Explain the banquet menu to guests.
• Assist guests with dietary needs or beverage recommendations.
• Clear and reset tables; maintain clean and tidy service areas.
• Set up, service and tear down of bars.
• Provide engaging and luxury service to our guests.
• Ensure guests leave with a positive dining experience.
• Maintain health and safety standards and comply with policies.

You will ensure that every moment becomes a memory for our guests.Reporting to the Director, Event Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up rooms & function areas in the hotel
• Explain the banquet menu to guests
• Assisting those with special dietary needs or preferences as well as provide suitable assistance when recommending beverages
• Clear and reset tables as well as ensuring service areas are clean and tidy
• Set up, service and tear down of bars
• Providing engaging and luxury service to our guests
• Responsible to ensure all our guests leave with a positive dining experience
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment and ensures that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed and has the knowledge and tools to work safely
• Maintain awareness of and ensuring compliance with all food safety & hygiene policies and proceduresare followed at all times
• Maintain awareness of and ensuring compliance with all sustainability and food waste reduction/diversion policies, procedures and programs at the hotel
• To follow all department and hotel policies, procedures and service standards
• Execute all other duties as assigned by the Director,Event Operations or their designate

What will you bring to this role?

• Previous experience in events or fine dining (serving or bartending) considered an asset
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Flexible availability, with a focus on evenings and weekends
• Must be available to work on key holidays, including Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day, and during Stampede, as well as other designated blackout dates throughout the year
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team, with minimal supervision
• Possesses a warm, caring, and personable demeanor
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently
