Job summary

Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa is seeking a Banquet Server B (Part-Time) to join our Banquet Leadership Team. You will deliver professional, friendly service and assist guests with menu details during banquet events.

Candidates should have prior culinary or service experience, strong communication, and teamwork. Smart Serve certification is required; bilingual abilities are a plus. Compensation is CAD 18.80/hour with benefits and Accor employee programs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the culinary field required.
• Previous service experience an asset.
• Previous POS system experience an asset.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
• Schedule flexibility (early mornings, late nights during weekdays).
• Smart Serve Certification required.
• Bilingual is an asset.
• Bartending experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.

• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.

Job Description

Reporting to the Banquet Leadership Team, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
• Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
• Serve all food and beverage items for assigned banquet meetings
• Have full knowledge of beverage lists
• Have full knowledge of all menu items being served
• Set tables according to event order, clients’ specifications and Fairmont Standards
• Set rooms for functions that have food venues required
• Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
• Other duties as assigned

Additional Information

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Must be able to lift heavy trays (8 plates)
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps

Hours of Work:

• Part‑time employees on list "B" must choose up to and including twenty‑four (24) regular hours in any work week
