Job description

If you are looking for a team that brings out the best in each other, a team that has fun and are proud of their work - we want to hear from you. The Four Points by Sheraton - Kelowna Airport is currently looking for a Banquets Houseperson.

We are also on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel, and our complimentary shuttle picks up our employees from the bus loop at UBCO.

Position Summary

What will you be doing?
You are responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Responsible for setup and install of all AV equipment in adherence to the Event Order requirements at both hotels
  • Act as the on-site contact to answer any AV related questions, help with troubleshooting or last-minute installs
  • Ensures timely setup, operation and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment
  • Provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple setup requirements at one time
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Provides technical support for events and colleagues
  • Setup and take down events according to Banquet Event Orders
  • Maintaining the overall sanitation and cleanliness of the work areas, banquet rooms and storage areas
  • Consistently implement the service standards and operating procedures in the banquet and catering service
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer needs are met
  • Guide the banquet servers in set up of tables and place settings
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and warm hospitality to all guests
  • Foster and practice teamwork and cooperation with all other positions existing in the hotel
  • Monitor food quality and presentation standards
  • Other duties as assigned or required
  • Available to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays


What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a Hotel Environment
  • Understanding of AV equipment and current trends
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, & Outlook
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Should be able to work under pressure and work in long or break shifts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude
  • Serving it Right Certificate
  • Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
